Legislation introduced in September 2009 states that any person wishing to become an LGV driver that only holds a full car driving licence must:

– Be 18 years of age
– Have a medical checkup
– Apply to Swansea for a Provisional Licence
– Take and pass the Computer Tests
– Pass the Driving Test in a Rigid Vehicle Licence (LGV Category C)
– before progressing on to an Articulated Vehicle Licence (LGV Category C and E)

The above does not apply to those who already hold a Full LGV Licence (Category C) and wish to upgrade to an Articulated LGV Licence (Category C and E). An application to Swansea is required to have this entitlement included on the Licence.
